A woman with a pen, a notepad and a dream to better her community …
My name is Jessica (Williams) Bricker and I am a communications specialist for a rural Indiana public school district that serves students pre-K through 12. I lead the district’s communication initiatives. I graduated with a journalism degree from Indiana University-Bloomington with distinction and with minors in history and political science. I have lived in Bluffton since graduating from IU in May 2013. In the spring of 2024, I earned a digital marketing science certification through Indiana Wesleyan University.
I’m involved with the Wells County Foundation, United Way of Wells County and the Wells County Leadership Academy. Learn more about those involvements by checking out Outside the office.
I am the former editor of the Bluffton (Ind.) News-Banner. I worked in daily journalism from 2013-2022. My work there — writing, photography, video editing, special section planning and column-writing — was recognized as some of the best in the state by the Hoosier State Press Association and the Indiana Associated Press Media Editors. I reported from behind prison walls, including death row at the Indiana State Prison; courtrooms; addiction recovery groups; and the famous Hoosier Gym in Knightstown, Ind.
I’ve traveled to London, Paris, Normandy, Sydney, Melbourne, Alice Springs and Toronto, but I call Northeast Indiana home with my young son.
